BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: October 21, 2014 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Jason Autrey SUBJECT: Park Host Volunteer Program DEPARTMENT: Public Works BCC DISTRICT: All STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Approval of a Parks Host Volunteer Program and Policy. The program will be used to assist Parks Division staff with the upkeep and maintenance of county facilities, provide minimal security and provide the public with basic information concerning County Parks at selected locations. BACKGROUND: The County owns and operates a number of public recreational facilities and parks and it has been determined that certain parks require the services of a Park Host Volunteer. The volunteers will be responsible for performing basic maintenance and cleanup services and to oversee the general safety and welfare of Park visitors. The Park Host is not a County employee and is open to all persons with the exception of current County employees. In return for services provided by the volunteer, the County grants Park Hosts the right to occupy a recreational trailer, travel trailer or mobile home provided by Park Host as their residence. Park Host shall not utilize or occupy any other portion of the park grounds or facilities, except as otherwise provided in writing. The Program and Policy have been reviewed and approved by Human Resources and the County Attorney. OPTIONS: Approve/disapprove the Park Host Volunteer Program and Policy RECOMMENDATIONS: Approve the Park Host Volunteer Program and Policy.
