Discussion: The Okaloosa County Sheriff, Charles Morris, has offered to donate two used
Crown Victorias police cars, which are K-9 equipped. They would be transferred from his
department's fleet to the Fort Walton Beach Police Department, at no charge. The two vehicles
have been taken out of service because they replaced vehicle types for their K-9 Units.
The two vehicles are Ford Crown Victoria police packages and are fully equipped for K-9 use. They
also contain much of the other equipment required for our duty service. Both
police package
vehicles appear to be in excellent shape, and are reported to be so, by the fleet maintenance section
of the Okaloosa County Sheriffs Office. One of the vehicles is a 2002 model and the other one is a
2000 model. The remaining conversion requirements for these vehicles (FWBPD paint and striping
schemes, and which is not included), can

budgets of the police department.
Again, Sheriff Morris has generously offered to assist in our fleet development, which further
strengthens the cooperative bonds between the Fort Walton Beach Police Department and the
Okaloosa County Sheriffs Office.
Recommendation: I recotntnend
that the City Council accept ( on behalf of the police
department) the two vehicles, equipped for canine (1<-9) use, which are offered without charge by
Sheriff Morris ( see attached list).
