BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: January 6, 2015 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Jason Autrey SUBJECT: Public Event Permit - 2015 Mardi Gras Parade on Okaloosa Island DEPARTMENT: Public Works BCC DISTRICT: Two STATEMENT OF ISSUE: The Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce is requesting a Public Event Permit for a parade on Okaloosa Island. BACKGROUND: Each year The Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce sponsors a Mardi Gras parade. This year they have requested to have the parade along Santa Rosa Blvd. from Tarpon Drive to the Tom Thumb before the intersection of Santa Rosa Blvd and U.S. Highway 98. Parade lineup will begin at 11:00 am with official start time for the parade at 1:00 pm. Parade entries will then travel under the Brooks Bridge and continue to the east end of Santa Rosa Blvd. to Pandora's Restaurant. OPTIONS: Approve / Disapprove RECOMMENDATIONS: Approve a Public Event Permit for the 2015 Mardi Gras Parade from 11:00 am to 2:30 pm on January 17, 2015 as submitted by The Greater Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce. RECOMMENDED BY: APPROVED BY: John Hofstad, County Administrator
