BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: January 8, 2013 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: James D. Curry SUBJECT: Crestview Courthouse Project Task Force DEPARTMENT: County Administrator BCC DISTRICT: All STATEMENT OF ISSUE: A Task Force has been formed to discuss and make recommendations on the use of space and the planned remodeling of the Shalimar Annex. A similar Task Force is needed to analyze, discuss and make recommendations on the remodeling and use of space for the Okaloosa County Courthouse in Crestview. BACKGROUND: Two years ago, Okaloosa County identified members of the Crestview Courthouse Task Force but due to a lack of funding no meetings have ever been held. Staff would like to begin some long-term planning for the facility, so the members of the committee need to be updated. To be consistent with the recently created Shalimar Annex Task Force Committee, county staff members without a direct function in the facility will participate in the meetings but are requested to be deleted from the committee as voting members for formal recommendations to the Board. Key stakeholders have been contacted to seek names of proposed participants. The following individuals are recommended : Judiciary - Judge William Stone Board of County Commissioners - To Be Determined Court Administration - Robin Wright State Attorney's Office - William Bishop; alternate Kris Cook Public Defender's Office - Karen Crinklaw; alternate Scott Miller Sheriff's Office - Lt. Eric Aden; alternate Randy Phillips Facility Maintenance - Don Turner (request removal) Corrections - Paul Lawson Clerk's Office - Don Howard; alternate Kathy Henley Information Systems - Don Vanderhoek (request removal) Growth Management - Purl Adams (request removal) Risk Management - Gary Real (request removal) Public Works - John Hofstad & Jason Autrey (request removal) Purchasing - Richard Brannon (request removal) County Administrator's Office - Jim Curry (request removal) Property Appraiser's Office - Pete Smith Supervisor of Elections - Paul Lux; alternate Shirley Young Law Library - Deborah Angerman OPTIONS: To approve or disapprove list as provided. Staff recommends the deletion of BCC staff appointments, with the exception of Corrections, as indicated above. This recommendation is consistent with the approved composition of the Shalimar Annex Task Force.
