SUBJECT: Initiate bidding for State Lobbyist Services

STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Staff requests approval to move forward with initiation of a request
for proposals for Florida State Lobbyist services.
BACKGROUND: The Okaloosa Board of County Commissioners entered into a contract
agreement with the Cardenas Partners, LLC in December 2009 for one (1) Year with the option
to renew these contracts for two (2) additional one-year contract periods. The current contract is
due to expire on September 30, 2013 and cannot be renewed further.
OPTIONS: Approve/Disapprove.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Staff recommends BCC approval to move forward with initiation of
a request for proposals for Florida State Lobbyist services. A recommendation of award will be
brought back to the BCC at a later date.
