COMMENTS: City Council authorized execution of the NRCS Emergency Watershed Protection Grant during the February 8th Regular Council Meeting. Emergency Watershed Protection grants are awarded to state, county, and local' government agencies for debris cleanup and associated repairs following natural disasters such as Hurricane Ivan, which impacted our area last September. The NRCS will fund 75% of the total cost of the debris cleanup effort, with the City responsible for the remaining 25%. For the Stream Debris Removal element of this grant, the NRCS provided a total project estimate of$ 81, 083. The City may offset the cost of the 25% match through " in-kind" services such as designing the project, developing specifications, administering the contracts, providing limited labor, and providing inspection services. Based on Thomco' bid price of $41, 249.45, the City' s maximum match for the debris removal element of this project will be $ 10, 312.37. Staff expects the majority, if not all, of this estimated cost to be offset through " in-kind" services. o o City of Fort Walton Beach MEMORANDUM DATE: May 24, 2005 TO: John Hofstad Assistant Public Works Director FROM: Michael C.
