Good afternoon Flliot,
Thanks for the e-mail and update regarding the new tower in Bluewater Bay. To put it succinctly, yes, the State Law
Enforcement Radio System (SLERS) antenna that resides on the current tower is an integral part of our County
emergency communication system. The tower is referred to by the State as the “Niceville” tower, and it provides
coverage to the system users in the Valparaiso, Niceville and Bluewater Bay areas.

Transportation. The local users include the fire districts (any fire district that could respond into Niceville, Blue
Bais including South Walton & Walton County Fire Rescue), Emergency Medical Services and law
enfo rcement (Sheriff's Office, Niceville Police, Valparaiso Police and Airport Police). Our ability to communicate with
e 21 via this radio system is vital to the emergency response system for Okaloosa County. Ifyouneed any
itional information, please let me know.
Thanks,

Good afternoon:
As you know, Crown Communications has started the ball rolling to construct the tower in Bluewater Bay. | had asked
them to check with the Schoo! Board to see if they (the Board) would allow them to locate on one of the Board’s large
parcels in the same area. Unfortunately, the School Board is not interested, and so they are moving forward with the
site on Bay Drive (Parcel 22-15-22-0000-0001-0090) as there do not seem to be any other suitable, available parcels in
the area.
This is important as | am certain there will be resistance to siting the tower in Bluewater Bay, but if this is the only
feasible site available, then we may not have much of a choice. So, is the existing tower — and of course the proposed
tower which will replace it — an integral part of the County emergency communication system? This is an important
factor we must take into consideration. '
Thanks,
Elliot
