A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WALTON
BEACH, FLORIDA, TO SUPPORT AND APPROVE THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION FOR TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES PURSUANT TO
COMPLETION OF THE MILLING AND RESURFACING OPERATIONS ON SR 85 FROM
SR 30 ( US 98) TO RICHBOURG AVENUE AS A PART OF FPID NO. 450813- 1- 52- 01;
PROVIDING FOR TRANSMITTAL OF THE RESOLUTION; AND PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the State of Florida Department of Transportation ( FDOT) proposes to
construct or improve State Road No. 85 ( Eglin Parkway), Financial Project No. 450813- 1- 52- 01,
in Okaloosa County; and
WHEREAS, The Florida Department of Transportation proposes to deep mill and
resurface significant pavement failures in the City of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; and
WHEREAS, for FDOT to proceed with Project No. 450813- 1- 52- 01, it is necessary that
certain roads ( as identified) some of which are owned and maintained by City of Fort Walton
Beach be utilized as an alternative method of traveling during the milling and resurfacing of SR
85; and
WHEREAS, said road closures are performed in accordance to the attached documents;
and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF FORT WALTON BEACH:
Section 1. City of Fort Walton Beach Authorization and Direction
The City Council of the City of Fort Walton Beach, Florida authorizes the Mayor to
execute and deliver to FDOT the temporary and permanent road closures as identified herein.
Section 2. Transmittal of Resolution
A certified copy of this resolution to be forwarded to the Florida Department of
Transportation at 1074 Highway 90, Chipley, Florida 32428.
Section 3. Effective Date
This Resolution shall become effective upon adoption by City Council and signature of
the Mayor.
