RESOLUTION NUMBER 06- 20
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FORT WALTON BEACH, OKALOOSA COUNTY, FLORIDA;
APPROVING DISTRIBUTION PERCENTAGES FOR THE ONE
PENNY SALES TAX FOR EACH MUNICIPALITY WITHIN THE
COUNTY AND SUPPORTING THE SOURCE OF POPULATION
STATISTICS; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Section 212.055, Florida Statutes, authorizes the governing authority
in each county to levy a discretionary sales surtax of .5 or 1 percent; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Walton Beach has already agreed to supporting a
referendum for a 1- cent sales tax to be voted on during the September 2006 election; and
WHEREAS, the City of Fort Walton Beach has also agreed to supporting that this
sales tax be in effect for 5 years and that the generated revenue be .used solely for
transportation and wastewaterlstormwater projects.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
FORT WALTON BEACH THAT:
SECTION 1: The City of Fort Walton Beach, Florida hereby agrees with the
following distribution percentage for each municipality:
Cinco Bayou 44% Mary Esther 2. 26%
Crestview 9. 26% Niceville 6. 89%
Destin 6. 69% Shalimar 83%
Fort Walton Beach 11. 00% Valparaiso 3. 49%
Laurel Hill 65%
