Items for Information Purposes Only – (Speaker) i. Chris Janson Concert Post Event Report (Bill Leaman) Mr. Leaman presented an update regarding the concert. Mr. Craul commented such an event takes lots of advertising which we didn’t do, there was lots of competition for country/western artists during that 2-3 week period, a week night is a tough draw, and consumer mindset of ECCC isn’t a concert venue. Mr. Gossom commented the TDC’s contribution could be discounted facility fees for a public/private partnership. Mr. Guidry pointed out that Sinfonia sold out Kristin Chenoweth. Mayor Anderson inquired how an outside contractor would help. Council consensus was that this was a good learning experience. j. Public Comment (3 minutes each) Martin Owen said well done to the TDC for its dog welcoming advertising. He feels the TDC needs to make it a priority as that is a huge market and recommended the County revisit the no dog rule on beaches. Mr. Owen also mentioned the TDC could have offered pre- and post-fam tours for International Pow-Wow held this week in Pensacola since we are the beaches of New Orleans. Mr. Craul commented Hilton requires every brand to set aside 10% of inventory for dog-friendly customers. Empty nesters who have replaced kids with pets travel in the off-season, so beaches could be made dog-friendly only in the off- season. Mr. Schroeder will request staff research the dog friendly issue and bring recommendations to the TDC. Minutes Acceptance: Minutes of Jun 23, 2016 2:00 PM (Items for TDC Approval/Recommendation) V. REVENUE ANALYSIS Attachment: I. d. Financial Update (5941 : Financial Update (Charlotte Dunworth)) Okaloosa County levies a 5% tourist development tax. Lodging establishments remit bed tax collections to the Tax Collector by the 20th of each month for the preceding month. The Tax Collector reconciles and remits the revenues to the County by the 10th of the following month. Due to the timing of this process, $7.1M in actual revenue represents collections through May. Year-to-date tourist development tax collections are $804K or 12.7% greater than the prior year. July 16, 2016 Packet Tourist Development Department, Okaloosa County, FL Pg. 14 Financial Update – July 2016 1.d.a RevPAR Revenue per available room (RevPAR) is a widely used performance metric in the lodging industry. RevPAR is a measurement for a point in time, so it is most appropriately used when comparing equivalent time periods (e.g. October 2014 to October 2013). RevPar = gross monthly receipts divided by days in month divided by number of units (data taken from Tax Collector’s monthly reports, so there is a reporting lag) Attachment: I. d.
