BACKGROUND: The original SJPA was amended to include security surveillance for the passenger exit late at Northwest Florida Regional Airport in addition to security systems at the two General Aviation Airports (Bob Sikes and Destin Fort Walton Beach). Since the Florida Department of Transportation funding for commercial service airports cannot exceed 50% of the eligible costs, while GA airport funding may be as high as 80%; this increased the County's share of the project costs from $260,360.00 to $463,913.00. The intended source for local funding share is Passenger Facility Charges (PFC) for both the Northwest Florida Regional Airport and GA airports. This is included in PFC Amendment No. 6 which will be submitted to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for approval when consultation with the Airlines is completed. OPTIONS: Approve, Disapprove, Table RECOMMENDATIONS: Airport Staff recommends approval of the Supplemental Joint Participation Agreement and the required Signature Resolution which are attached.
