AGENDA REQUEST
DATE: May 20, 2014
TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board
FROM: Elliot Kampert
SUBJECT: Coordination/Operator Contract
DEPARTMENT: Growth Management
BCC DISTRICT: All
On June 4, 2002, the Board voted to assume designation as the County’s Community Transportation
Coordinator (CTC) and to serve the transportation disadvantaged population in Okaloosa County,
pursuant to Chapter 427, F.S.
Attached for the Board’s review and approval is a renewal of a operator contract with Caring Hearts
Pediatric Extended Care Center for provision of transportation services pursuant to Rule 41-2.011 F.A.C.
which requires the CTC to enter into a contract with a transportation operator to provide service when
cost effective and efficient. Okaloosa County Transit will collect and maintain all required
agency/operator reports and certifications for the County.
The standard coordination/operator contracts specify the duties of the agency/operator including provision
of services, reporting requirements, audit and record keeping, safety and insurance. In addition, a service
description for each agency/operator is listed in Attachment 1 of the attached contracts.
Caring Hearts Pediatric Extended Care Center provides paratransit service for agency clients and receives
Medicaid reimbursement through OCT. The reimbursement is paid out of the County’s monthly
Medicaid allocation for transportation.
