BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: January 6, 2015 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Kay Godwin SUBJECT: Public Works Director Hiring Confirmation DEPARTMENT: Human Resources BCC DISTRICT: All STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request confirmation of the County Administrator’s recommendation to hire Mr. Jason Autrey as Public Works Director. BACKGROUND: The internal advertisement period for Public Works Director ended on Friday, December 26, 2014. There was one internal candidate - Jason Autrey, Interim Public Works Director. In accordance with current HR Policy, the Board of County Commissioners appointed a screening committee consisting of Wayne Harris, Okaloosa County Commissioner; John Hofstad, County Administrator; and Kay Godwin, Human Resources Director. Upon review of the internal application, the screening committee recommended Mr. Jason Autrey for the position of Public Works Director. Mr. Autrey has been employed as a professional engineer by Okaloosa County since June 2004, most recently serving as County Engineer and Interim Public Works Director. Mr. Autrey worked previously as a Project Manager for Jones, Edmunds & Associates from September 2000 to June 2004, and prior, as a staff engineer for Brown & Cullen from May 1996 to September 2000. Mr. Autrey holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Florida, and a Florida Professional Engineer Certification. OPTIONS: Approve/Disapprove RECOMMENDATIONS: Confirm the County Administrator’s recommendation to hire Mr. Jason Autrey as Public Works Director at a salary of $104,998.40.
