Naturally I would like to be present at this meeting to answer any questions the Council may have. However, I am just about to get on a flight to Washington DC to represent the TriCounty Defense Support Initiative, in the annual Congressional and Pentagon briefing, so will be unable to attend. I wonder if it' s possible for you to pass my regrets to the Council, and the reason for my non appearance. Pike - Request for Consideration of Appointment to the Community Redevelopment Agency Commission 2. What options would you initiate if appointed? 3. How would you address- issues if appointed? I would maintain and encourage an objective, balanced and unbiased approach to the decision making process involving long term implementation of the City' s Comprehensive Plan as it impacts new business development and improvements within the designated redevelopment areas of the community, and the resources available to the Agency and the City. The Community of Fort Walton Beach has many uniquely valuable resources. I would maintain and encourage a " sense of urgency" with fellow Commission members, and the City Council, to continue finding ways to determine and promote the highest and best use of the community' s resources for the benefit of all local citizens, and the community as a whole. " Community Marketing and Development" is a competitive industry in itself, which in reality means there no longer remains the ability to " stay the way we are ". We are either " moving forward or moving backward ", and moving forward-requires that we continue to find ways to differentiate the community in a positive manner, from other competing communities. I would encourage full use of all available economic tools and resources to attract and maintain new and existing businesses and stable jobs; those that enhance the profile of the community in accordance with the Economic Development Plan and the Comprehensive Plan, and those that pose a long term asset to the community. As a local business owner, I have a vested interest in the long term growth of the community. Municipalities and local business owners can work together to make projects happen, while each benefitting from the other' s resources and expertise. I would encourage other Commission members, and the City Council, to seek out and identify that local core group of entrepreneurial individuals and business owners, and benefit from the value of potential Public -Private Partnerships. 5. What special qualifications do you feel you will bring to this Board? I can offer the benefit of Municipal management and planning experience over the past 18 years including Elected Council Term in 19955 and most recent Mayor and Council appointed position as Chairman of the Planning Commission, and Secretary of the Enterprise Zone Board, for the City of Effingham, IL. I was appointed in 1999, served 3 separate administrations, and
