BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: November 20, 2012 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: John Hofstad SUBJECT: Information Item - FY 2011-2012 Striping Contract Payment DEPARTMENT: Public Works BCC DISTRICT: ALL STATEMENT OF ISSUE: The final invoice for road striping for FY 2011-2012 in the amount of $379,905.39 has been presented by the vendor for review and payment. The work has been field verified and staff agrees with the work completed. Sufficient dollars remain in the FY 2011-2012 budget to pay the total amount of the invoice. This work was part of the approved FY 2011-2012 budget. Due to the timing of the striping list approval, and the contractors workload, not all of the list was completed and thermoplastic was applied to some of the roads on the list due to a scrivener's error which resulted in a higher invoice amount. Those roads left remaining will be completed in the FY 2012-2013 work. BACKGROUND: The Public Works Road Division compiles a list annually of roads that could benefit from the application of road striping (either thermo-plastic or paint) in accordance with Board adopted policy. The Board recently approved a new contract with Gulf Coast Traffic Engineers as the low bidder for FY 2012-2013. OPTIONS: Informational Item regarding the payment for FY 2011-2012 striping. RECOMMENDATIONS: N/A RECOMMENDED BY: APPROVED BY: James D. Curry, County Administrator
