We will provide a positive recommendation for the transfer of the Collection of the Tourist Development Tax to the Tax Collector from the Clerk of the Court. This will provide the Commission and the Citizens with another layer of Checks and Balances for the collection and assignment of funds for the TDC Bed Tax. To the Citizens, the distinction of the duties and responsibilities of these two Constitutional Officers is very clear. By allowing the collection of tax by the Tax Collector, there will be more transparency in the TDT and the TDC process with a separate and independent receipt and accounting of the taxes. This is the same process and procedure, as the County’s Ad Valorem Tax collection. In advance, we thank you for your consideration in this important matter. With kind regards, Benjamin F.
