BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: September 20, 2016 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Jason Autrey SUBJECT: Special Event Permit - Howell / Brannon Wedding DEPARTMENT: Public Works BCC DISTRICT: 2 STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Sharon Howell is requesting the use of County public beach at John Beasley Park for a large wedding. BACKGROUND: County Ordinance #13-07 (regulation of county recreational areas, including parks and beaches) addresses Special Events at county parks, beaches or recreational areas within Okaloosa County. A request has been received from Sharon Howell for use of County public beach at John Beasley Park for a wedding with 130 to 150 people in attendance. The wedding is to be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. This request has been reviewed by Public Works, Public Safety, Okaloosa Island Fire Dept. and the Sheriff's Office. Fees have been paid and insurance requirements met. OPTIONS: Approve / Disapprove RECOMMENDATIONS: Approve the request for a Special Event Permit to utilize County public beach at John Beasley Park for the Sharon Howell / Todd Brannon wedding, as submitted. RECOMMENDED BY: APPROVED BY: John Hofstad, County Administrator
