In many cases the electric motors are attached to pumps and are integral to their performance. We have pumps and motors at our wastewater plants, at every public water supply well and also in every one of our sewer pump stations. We also have some high volume potable water booster pump stations. The size of the electric motors in our systems ranges from pumps with 5 hp motors in small sewer pump stations up to pumps with 300 hp motors that power the blowers for the digesters at our Arbennie Pritchett Water Reclamation Facility. Having a motor and pump repair facility under contract is mission critical for our department. As our infrastructure ages, we experience more failures over time and these motors and pumps must be repaired and put back into service in the field quickly. OCWS staff have reviewed the three bids received for Bid WS47-13, Electric Motor Repair/Service/Replacement. We recommend award of the bid to Electric Motor Repair Service of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida, they being the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, with a bid price of $86,502.00 for Recondition and $107,223.00 for Recondition & Rewind. Funds are expected to be available in the FY2014 budget. A copy of page 3 of the recommended FY2014 budget is attached. Please refer to account numbers 546012, 546621 and 546022.
