BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
AGENDA REQUEST
DATE: November 18, 2014
TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board
FROM: Kathy Newby, Public Information Officer
SUBJECT: Beach Safety Award Presentation
Okaloosa County Beach Safety was awarded the United States Lifesaving Association (USLA)
Beach Safety Challenge Award in October. The USLA program promotes beach safety education
among communities across the U.S. All agencies are presented the challenge and Okaloosa
County was recognized this year. Okaloosa County Beach Safety Program is like no other
program in the nation and has proven successful with children. All Okaloosa County elementary
schools had a visit by Buddy the Dolphin, who teaches children how to be safe at the beach. His
name is "Buddy," reminding kids to swim with a buddy.
