From: WGarvie@aol. com [ mailto: WGarvie@aol. com] Sent: Thursday, February 11, 2010 7: 29 PM To: Robert Mearns Subject: Re: Gov. Stone Bob, At the February 3rd meeting of the CRA (see the minutes) it was decided by a 4 to 3 vote to not approve the expenditure of approximately $ 600, which funds were to pay for an electrical conduit, necessary for a bilge pump, and a sign promoting the Gov. Stone. Both items appear to be necessary and reasonable in order for the Gov. Stone to be docked at the Landing Park. The hang -up was not the cost, but the fact that the Gov Stone managers could not provide a definite number of days for the Gov. Stone to be docked at the Landing. This is a fantastic educational opportunity for the City, and I would hate to see some other locality end up with this jewel. Samantha did say that the CRA may reconsider this issue if they are assured of a certain number of days that the Gov Stone will be at the Landing. In either case, CRA approval or non approval, the council should have the last say. I would like to see a more " elaborate" sign at the docking site. The sign proposed is a metal sign, cost app. 100; 1 would suggest a sign similar to the signs at Liza Jackson Park, cost app. $ 300. This sign would be capable of being much more informative ( history, dimensions of the ship, etc.) and I believe that this is the intent of having the Gov Stone at the Landing Park. Thanks, Bill Garvie In a message dated 2/ 11/ 2010 3: 14:22 P. M. Central Standard Time, rmearns @fwb.org writes: I received a call from Samantha Abell who has told me that you want to have a matter relating to the Gov. Stone placed on the next agenda. Please let me know the matter is, exactly what background information you need, and what action you intend to ask the Council to take so that I may prepare the agenda item. Thanks Robert T.
