Tourist Development Plan Ordinance (Darrel Jones) Mr. Jones presented an update of the Board’s approval of an ordinance amending the collection of Tourist Development Tax from the Tax Collector to the Department of Revenue (DOR) effective February or March 2017. Informational purposes only. l. FY17 Q1 Media Reallocation (Maureen Morgenthien) Ms. Morgenthien apprised the Council of changes to three media placements for FY17 Q1. Informational purposes only. II. Items for Information Purposes Only – (Speaker) m. Marketing Update (Maureen Morgenthien) Ms. Morgenthien presented a marketing update, including VisaVue® data related to visitor spend. Mr. Craul suggested that it would be beneficial to research AMEX visitor activity as well. Ms. Morgenthien advised the Council that Allegiant Airlines announced that VPS will be their new summer seasonal base beginning May 2017 with two (2) new A320’s (177 passenger jet) and 45 local crew. Mr. Jones mentioned there is discussion about the TDC establishing a Visitors Center at VPS. n. Sales Update (Sherry Rushing & Tisha Maraj) Ms. Rushing and Ms. Maraj presented their activities and sales reports. Ms. Maraj introduced Mr. Allen Lassiter, ECCC Operations Manager, who apprised the Council that the roofing material used to repair ECCC roof leaks has been delivered and is scheduled for installation within the next two weeks. Action has been taken for consideration of replacing the ECCC carpet and chairs. Further updates forthcoming. III. Items for Information Purposes Only – (No Speaker) o. Ms. Matern expressed excitement about advertising efforts despite the challenges. Mr. Foreman mentioned efforts are being made to restore passenger rail services from Jacksonville through Crestview and further on to New Orleans. This project may become a reality and another opportunity for marketing visitors to the Emerald Coast. Mr. Guidry inquired about Sunshine Law and TDC members attending the Department Director section committee meetings. Ms. Hoshihara provided clarification.
