STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request approval to reject the bids for Telecommunications
Maintenance for the Okaloosa County Fiber Optic Network and re-advertise the request (RFB IS
24-15).
BACKGROUND & ANALYSIS: The Information Systems Department requested to procure
routine maintenance and repair for the fiber optic network for Okaloosa County. Bids were due
on March 11, 2015 and four (4) bids were received. Department representatives from
Information Systems reviewed the bids and determined that there were several disparities in the
solicitation which caused extreme variations in unit pricing. Staff requests Board approval to
reject the bids. Purchasing will assist Information Systems staff in the re-solicitation for the
maintenance and repair of the fiber optic network.
OPTIONS: Approve/Deny request to reject the bids for the Telecommunications Maintenance
for the Okaloosa County Fiber Optic Network (RFB IS 24-15) and authorize staff to re-advertise
the RFB.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the Board approve to reject the bids for the
Telecommunications Maintenance for the Okaloosa County Fiber Optic Network (RFB IS 24-
15) and authorize staff to re-advertise the RFB.
