said he would send a copy of the original letter to our PO box (which is our address of record in the lease). I got this letter sometime around February 22nd or so. During my original phone conversation, I was told by Mr Wiltsie that the invoices I currently had received were in error, and to ignore them, as the actual corrected invoice would be forthcoming. We finally received this corrected invoice around the 15th of this month and it has a due date of March 24th, hence the confusion as to why I have an eviction notice letter from you in my hand. Let me recap, until sometime in February of this year, we had no knowledge of any change in the status of the utilities. Since then, I have had exactly one phone conversation with Mr Wiltsie about this, who counseled me to wait for the correct invoice. We've received two conflicting invoices since then, and now, an eviction notice, all in about 30 days. Seems a bit unfair, if you ask me. While I acknowledge that our lease indeed says we are responsible for paying the utilities on this facility, we have not had to do so since I have been a club member (roughly 1985), if ever. The financial burden this new utility assessment places on our club is essentially a death sentence for us, but we intended to pay the bills until we had exhausted our options in solving this matter with the city. In reaching out to the city, with which we have had an almost 40 year partnership, for help in this matter, we feel we were effectively rebuffed and not allowed sufficient time to gather our wits before we were handed an eviction notice. I'm still not sure of the full amount that's due, we've been billed multiple times and with differing amounts each time. I have in my hand no less than 5 bills, ranging in amount from —$ 25 to $ 110, for various items such as power and water. I also have one letter with an estimate this value would be as high as $ 156. Its hard to know exactly what we owe and when it is due. Now, remember, it's been just about one month since we found about this, much less gotten the actual, correct, invoice, somewhat after the date of March 9th as specified in your letter. The timing on this frankly, sucks and we have to wonder what we have done to deserve this treatment. It seems a shame to abandon an almost 40 year history of cooperation between our club and the City of Fort Walton Beach. Over the years, the city has provided an environment in which our club has been able to grow and prosper. We have been thankful for this, and hate to see that go to waste. I will be calling your office in the morning to follow up on this matter as suggested in your letter. P. O. Box 873 Ft: Walton Beach, Fl 32549 Re: Utilities —17 First Street, SE Dear Mr. McCarter: It has recently come to our ,attention that there is natural gas service provided by Okaloosa Gas District to the building at 17 First Street, SE. This service was set up to provide gas heat in the winter for the tenants who occupy space at this location. In view of this, we must advise that your association will be responsible for 33. 6% of the cost of this utility as this is the percentage of the space that is heated using the gas utility. As with the other utilities, the City will pay the .monthly bill and ask your organization for reimbursement. In order to estimate the cost for your organization, I have been advised by our Finance Department that the annual expense last year was approximately $ 808. As such, the annual cost to your organization would be approximately $271. Should you have any questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate call me at 850- 833 -9506.
