SUBJECT: Continue Contract With Verizon Wireless #C07-1535-PUR
DEPARTMENT: Purchasing

STATEMENT OF ISSUE: The current contract expires on 9/30/2013. Staff is requesting
approval to continue this contract through 9/30/2014. There are no changes to the
current contract other than continuation of the date.
BACKGROUND: On 10/02/2012 the Board approved an amendment that incorporated
State and GSA pricing into this contract which resulted in Better rate plans and pricing. IS
and purchasing worked together last year to enhance communications Countywide. An
in-depth analysis was performed to evaluate function cost, accountability and
transparency. The conclusion was to amend current wireless contracts to include state
and GSA pricing, along with standardization of some equipment. Verizon is one of three
wireless contractors.
OPTIONS: Approve
RECOMMENDATIONS: Staff recommends approving the continuation of this contract
with Verizon for wireless service.
