BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: August 18, 2015 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Paul Lawson SUBJECT: Amendment 1 to the Panhandle Animal Welfare Society Contract DEPARTMENT: Public Safety BCC DISTRICT: All STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request approval of Amendment 1 to the contract for Animal Control Services with the Panhandle Animal Welfare Society, Inc. (PAWS). The amendment extends the contract for 3 additional months from September 1, 2015, to December 31, 2015, at a rate of $39,998.33 per month for a total of $119,994.99. BACKGROUND: Request an extension of 3 months for the current animal control services contract with PAWS. Traditionally, Okaloosa County has renewed the contract annually. However, to insure Okaloosa County receives the best animal control services, we desire to extend the current contract so that we may request proposals from qualified vendors for this service. OPTIONS: Approve/Disapprove. RECOMMENDATIONS: Approve Amendment 1 to the Animal Control contract with PAWS. RECOMMENDED BY: APPROVED BY: John Hofstad, County Administrator
