REGULAR MUNICIPAL PLANNI~ ARD MEETING OF" CITY OF FORT WALTON BEACH, FLORIDA NOVEMBER 3, 2005 INTRODUCTION The Regular Meeting of the Fort Walton Beach Municipal Planning Board was held on Thursday, November 3, 2005, at 5:00 p. m. in the Council Chambers of Fort Walton Beach City Hal with the foIIONing members present Richard Gercak (Chainnan); Judith Fiasco (Vice Chairman); Lee McDonald, Charles Scott, BifJ Wayne, and Janet Wilson Absent Glenda Glover Also present Missy McKim, CDS Director; Len Mitchell, Long-Range Planning Manager; Peggy Fowler, Planner II; Toni Craig, City Attorney Absent Tim Hoffman, Hurfburt Field, Howard Hill, School Board, and Brian Brown, Eglin AFB, ex- Officio members. CALL TO ORDERJROlL CALL The meeting was called to order and roll call was taken. AP.PROVAL OF MINUTES Ms. Wilson moved to approve the October 6, 2005 minutes. Mr. Scott seconded motion and it carried unanimously with Fiasco, Gercak, McDonald,Scott,Wayne, and Wilson in favor (Glover absent)_ aRC. 1654- REZON1NG OF PROPERTY. 1988 AND 1992 LEWIS TURNER BLVD. The ordinance was read by the City Attorney by title only. AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF FORT WALTON BEACH, FLORIDA, RELATING TO THE REZONING OF CERTAIN PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY OF FORT WALTON BEACH LOCATED AT 1988 AND 1992 LEWIS TURNER BOULEVARD; PROVIDING FOR AUTHORITY; PROVIDING FOR FINDINGS OF FACT; PROVIDING FOR PROPERTY TO BE REZONED FROM P- 1 ( PROFESSIONAL OFFICE) DISTRICT TO HC (HIGHWAY COMMERCIAL) DISTRICT; PROVIDING FOR A ZONING MAP AMENDMENT; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTING PROVISIONS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. The City Attorney announced a quasi- judicial proceeding and swore in the individuals who planned to testify. Len Mitchell, Long- Range Planning Manager, advised the applicants had requested, and the City approved, the re-designation of the subjed property to Highway Commercial ( HC). He informed this request will complete the process and change the zoning district designation to HC, which is considered consistent with the Future Land Use designation, and Staff recommends approval. As there were no objections, the Staff Report was entered and accepted into the record. The Chairman opened the public hearing. Atty. Jeff McInnis, representing the applicant, asked the Board to look favorably on the request As there was no one else who wished to speak, the public hearing was dosed. MUNICIPAL PLANNING BOO o 11/ 03105 ORD. 1654 fCONll Mr. Scott moved to recommend to City Council approval of Ord. 1654. AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF FORT WALTON BEACH, FLORIDA, RELATfNG TO THE REZONING OF CERTAIN PROPERTY WITHIN THE CITY OF FORT WALTON BEACH LOCATED AT 106 JONQUIL AVENUE NW;PROVIDING FOR AUTHORITY; PROVIDING FOR FINDINGS OF FACT; PROVIDING FOR PROPERTYTO BE REZONED FROM C-1 ( UMITEDCOMMERCIAL) DtSTRICTTO R- 2 ( MULTIFAMilY DwelLING) DISTRICT; PROVIDING FOR A ZONING MAP AMENDMENT; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTING PROVISIONS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
