PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS:
The Matching Streetscape Grant Program was approved by City Council on June 26, 2001,
after receiving a recommendation for approval from the CRA Board of Commissioners on June

grant program, which allows
improvements on a streetscape easement of up to a ten- foot width inside the private property
granted by the property owner to the City for streetscape improvements. The 50/ 50 matching
grant program provides grants of up to $ 10, 000 as an incentive for commercial property owners
to improve the appearance of abutting public rights- of-way. The
program is available to all
commercial properties that abut a City or FOOT public right- of-
way within the CRA Area.
The following improvements are eligible for grant funds under the program:
Sidewalks;
Landscaping;
Irrigation systems for approved landscaped area;
Decorative light fixtures and associated electrical wiring;
Street furniture ( benches, trash receptacles, etc.); and
Placement of overhead utilities underground.
The program guidelines require that the applicant submit a site plan showing the proposed
improvements, a list of amenities to be provided in the public right- of-way and/ or streetscape
easement, and a cost estimate showing the total project cost and the amount of grant funds
requested. The applicant is required to enter into a maintenance agreement with the City of
Fort Walton Beach, guaranteeing the maintenance of the improvements for their duration. The
