STATEMENT OF ISSUE: (FM) Requests BCC approval of a Change Order to Reflect the Total
Costs of the Sheriff's New Building Project in Shalimar, not including Design Services costs.
BACKGROUND: Prior to the BCC meeting on September 16, 2014, the Board had approved a
total amount of funding for the Construction Manager's contract in the amount of $316,730.00
for the original contract and all change orders approved up to 9/16/2014. At the BCC meeting on
9/16/2014, representatives of Lord & Son, the approved Construction Manager for the new
Sheriff's building, presented to the Board a Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for the project in
the amount of $1,504,147.00, before projected sales tax savings due to the direct purchase
program. The GMP does not include Design Services Fees of $80,0000, which is under a
separate contract. The adjusted GMP reflects estimated sales tax savings in the amount of
$30,083.00. The adjusted GMP for the project is $1,484,064.00.
Lord & Son has presented a new change order request in the amount of $1,167,334.00 for BCC
approval. This amount, when added to the total of the original contract and all change orders
approved prior to 9/16/2014, equals the adjusted GMP of $1,484,064.00. The Board has already
approved the GMP. This action will bring the total amount for the original contract and all
approved change orders up to the estimated project cost of $1,484,064.00.
Staff recommends approval.
RECOMMENDATIONS: (FM) Requests BCC approval of a Change Order in the amount of
$1,167,334.00 to reflect the total Estimated Cost for the Sheriff's New Building Project in
Shalimar (not including Design Services costs) and for the Board to authorize the Chairman to
execute all related documents.
