Response area from the East end of Beasley Park to the Eglin Beach Club and west jetty. Mutual aid throughout the south county for aquatic emergencies Specific Services Provided: Okaloosa Beach Safety provides continuous response and patrol coverage for Okaloosa Island and mutual aid for the surrounding areas for open water emergencies. Beach Safety provides 238 days of guarded coverage throughout the almost four miles of county and private beaches on Okaloosa Island **BUDGET DEFICIENCY** $40,000.00 decrease in staffing budget FY-17 will have a significant impact on services provided by eliminating the most recent funding initiatives by the BOCC such as: FY- 16 funding of $10,000.00 for increased coverage areas for new hotel development. FY-14 funding of $20,000.00 for extended service hours until 8pm. for Memorial day-Labor Day. FY-11 funding of $10,000.00 for increased census and educational programs to include Buddy and Junior Lifeguard programs. Replacement of unreliable 2000 Chevy truck with over 220k miles critical for patient extraction from the beach when the Okaloosa Island Fire Department is handling another emergency. This situation relegates Beach Safety to hand carrying victims off the beach drastically increasing the potential for injury. $38,000.00 Replacement of the 2008 Yamaha VX Rescue Ski vital tool in both rescue and prevention as well as an important piece of equipment when responding in a mutual aid capacity. $12,000.00 2 of 2
