Curry Okaloosa County Administrator 1804 Lewis Turner Blvd., Suite 400 Ft. Walton Beach, Florida 32547 Dear Mr. Curry, Florida Statute 197.402 (2) requires that the Tax Collector advertise within forty-five days after the personal and real property taxes become delinquent, a list of delinquent property taxpayers and the amount of taxes due by each. Before the Tax Collector can advertise, a newspaper must be selected by the County Commission. In the past, the Board of County Commissioners has supported the Tax Collector’s selection of the newspaper in which to advertise. I will certainly uphold the wishes of the County Commission. Thank you for your assistance in the selection of a newspaper. I look forward to your response as we begin the planning process of the Okaloosa County tax certificate sale. Sincerely, B/s— Justin Gordon Tax Administrator Ce: Karen Rossi, Executive Assistant II The State of Florida created this State Constitutional County Office as a separate and independent government entity to ensure freedom from influence by local or state agencies that have the power to levy taxes, spend tax dollars and assess property.
