Commissioner Harris:
We are currently working on Red Ribbon Week which is the last week of October (Oct. 23-31, 2014). The Emerald
Coast Young Marines (a youth organization for ages 8-18) will be actively participating in this nationally
recognized illicit drug awareness event. I'm requesting your assistance in publicizing and promoting this week by
issuing a proclamation that declares support and commitment in the fight against illegal drugs and those that
promote their use.
If you would be willing to issue this proclamation, I would like to schedule the date and time so that we can have
some Young Marines present, and if able to give a short statement. We would also like to bring some red ribbons
and handouts if permitted.
I have attached a sample proclamation that you are able to revise as needed.
Please let me know as soon as possible so I can coordinate the youth with your calendar. We truly appreciate your
consideration.
