SUBJECT: New Facility Lease with Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge

STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Approval of a new facility lease agreement for a portion of the
property at 105 Santa Rosa Blvd., Ft. Walton Beach with Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge, Inc.
The term of the agreement is for one (1) year with provisions for two (2) optional one (1) year
extensions.
BACKGROUND: On June 15th, 2010 the Board entered into a lease with the Emerald Coast
Wildlife Refuge, Inc. (ECWR) for a portion of the facility located at 105 Santa Rosa Blvd., Ft.
Walton Beach, known as the old Okaloosa Island Fire Station building. This lease expired June
30 of this year. The term of the new lease is for one (1) year with provisions for two (2) optional
one (1) year extensions.
This property will continue to be shared with the Parks Division and a drawing is attached
illustrating that arrangement.
A current copy of the Certificate of Liability for the property is attached. This is a requirement of
the lease.
OPTIONS: Disapprove/Approve to enter into a new lease agreement with Emerald Coast
Wildlife Refuge, Inc. for the property located at 105 Santa Rosa Blvd., Ft. Walton Beach for one
(1) year with provisions for two (2) optional one (1) year extensions.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Request Board approval and authorization for the Chairman to sign
the lease agreement with Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge, Inc. for the property located at 105
Santa Rosa Blvd., Ft. Walton Beach for one (1) year with provisions for two (2) optional one (1)
year extensions.
