REQUEST:
Pravin Chauhan, representing the property owner, Seabreeze 98, LLC
requests an extension of
the site plan approval that was granted for the construction of an inn and suites hotel located at
137 Miracle Strip Parkway SW. The project was reviewed and recommended for
approval by
the CRA Board of Commissioners on January 4, 2006 and received approval from
City Council
on January 24, 2006.
The project consists of the demolition of an existing restaurant
building, swimming pool,
pavement and all other miscellaneous buildings on site and the construction of a 54, 703 square
foot, 4- story inn and suites hotel, with some retail and office accessory space.
DISCUSSION:
Section 12.45. 07 of the Land Development Code requires that a building permit must be
secured for a project within 12 months of site plan approval. If an application for a building
permit has not been submitted within 12 months of the approval, the site plan becomes null and
void. City Council may approve an extension of the site plan approval for an additional 12-
month increment, upon a recommendation from the CRA Board of Commissioners.
Staff recommends approval of a 12- month extension of the site plan approval for the
project in
accordance with Section 12.45. 07 of the Land Development Code, subject to the conditions that
were imposed upon the project by City Council at their meeting of January 24, 2005.
RECOMMENDATION:
The CRA Board of Commissioners recommended approval of a 12- month extension of the site
plan for the Comfort Inn & Suites, located at 137 Miracle Strip Parkway SW, in accordance with
Section 12.45. 07 of the Land Development Code, subject to the conditions that were imposed
upon the project by City Council at their meeting of January 24, 2006, and the execution of a
Development Order that incorporates previous conditions of approval and the extension of time
passed unanimously). The original staff report and a copy of the City Council minutes detailing
the conditions of approval are attached.
