CRYPT OF ECHOES · TESLA INVESTIGATIONS · OCTOBER 16, 2026 Tesla Roadster: Promises, Patents and Production Research commentary and a guide to 16 preserved primary documents. Company claims, patent disclosures and independently established facts are distinguished throughout. What the documents establish The strongest investigation is the distance between announced capability, disclosed development status, and an actual customer-deliverable vehicle. The records establish what Tesla said and what it sought to protect. They do not independently validate acceleration, range, production readiness, or regulatory compliance. Tesla’s Q4 2017 shareholder letter, PDF page 2, announced 1.9-second 0–60 mph acceleration, more than 250 mph top speed and 620-mile range. These belong to the original next-generation announcement. They should not silently be carried forward as specifications of the redesigned vehicle. Tesla, Q4 2017 . Across the collected recent quarterly updates, the production table continues to distinguish Roadster from production vehicles: Q4 2024 lists it as in development; Q1 2025 through Q2 2026 list design development, an unspecified manufacturing location and no stated annual capacity. Q4 2025 also discusses preparations for Roadster production. The nearby first-half-2026 wording refers to Semi and Cybercab; it should not be turned into a Roadster delivery commitment. See the page references in the catalog. The October 2026 announcement is a separate evidence event. Contemporary reporting describes an October 15 demonstration with suction and cold-gas thrusters and a 2028 production target. Tesla’s live page, as partially exposed by the web retrieval tool, now distinguishes Rocket and a Thrust upgrade. However, a direct browser and download returned access-denied responses, and the search index simultaneously served the older page. This package therefore does not present a complete, authenticated current specification sheet. Tesla product page ; AP, October 16 report . The public US reservation agreement retrieved through the web reader describes a reservation as priority toward a later order, leaves the final price unresolved, states delivery timing is not guaranteed, permits cancellation before the purchase agreement, and says payments are not held separately and do not earn interest. The 2017 agreement also separates reservation from purchase. Direct PDF downloads were blocked; neither file is falsely counted as preserved here. The current URL’s retrieved two-page text was not confirmed as the October 15, 2026 version. Claims circulating online about additional wording require an actual versioned copy. 2017 terms ; US terms endpoint . Patent evidence register Six publication documents, representing five distinct technical subjects/families, were downloaded directly from USPTO. The two electromagnetic-wiper grants are related, not two independent inventions. Dates and document types below are printed on the publications; ongoing prosecution, assignment changes and maintenance-fee status require separate official-register checks. Document Dates and relationships What it establishes / Roadster relevance US 12,377,920 B1 Adaptive vehicle aerodynamics for downforce Filed April 29, 2025; granted August 5, 2025. Application 19/193,270. Tesla assignee. Crook, Ward, Lemire. Fans, deployable skirts and different operating modes manage underbody pressure and grip. Strong technical relevance to suction/downforce research; no production installation established. Original abstract and drawing checked. A secondary article supplied the incorrect number 12,337,920 and a different title; the official PDF resolves that error. US 12,746,987 B1 Electric fan car Filed January 17, 2024; granted September 29, 2026. Application 18/415,094; provisional 63/439,509, January 17, 2023. Tesla assignee; Cymbalist et al. Battery-powered ducted fans, an underbody inlet and rear outlet, with diffuser arrangements. The cover illustration depicts a sedan-shaped vehicle. This supports broader Tesla fan-car development; it does not establish Roadster-exclusive use or prove a thruster system. US 2026/0285418 A1 Deployable and active rear wing assembly with safety features Filed August 8, 2025; published September 24, 2026. Application 19/295,293; continuation of 19/082,941 filed March 18, 2025, identified as abandoned on the cover. Tesla applicant; Lemire and Crook. A concealed wing and slat deploy and rotate under controller command. Relevant to active-aero investigation. This is a published application, not a grant. Parent abandonment does not establish abandonment of the continuation or cancellation of a vehicle. US 2026/0061898 A1 Vehicle seat system Filed September 3, 2024; published March 5, 2026. Application 18/823,622. Tesla applicant; Yuan, Sadoo, Squires. A continuous seat frame incorporates a flexing connection between seat and backrest. Relevant to lightweight seating; the reviewed description is generic to automotive seats. The Roadster association is an inference, not a statement of production fitment. Publication in March 2026 must not be reported as filing in March 2026. US 10,889,267 B2 Electromagnetic windshield wiper system Filed March 4, 2019; granted January 12, 2021. Application 16/291,186; provisional March 5, 2018. Earlier publication US 2019/0270431 A1. Tesla assignee; Clift, Prasanna, Graham. Linear electromagnetic movement of a physical wiper. Historical Roadster-related speculation; not evidence of a laser wiper and not confirmation of the current car’s equipment. US 11,541,846 B2 Electromagnetic windshield wiper system Filed January 11, 2021; granted January 3, 2023. Application 17/146,283; continuation of the preceding wiper application. Earlier publication US 2021/0370884 A1. Additional family document retained to prevent double-counting and allow claim comparison. Full prosecution histories and international counterparts are not included. Engineering interpretation: suction fans create downforce by lowering pressure beneath the car; compressed-gas thrusters create force by expelling stored gas. A fan or skirt patent is not proof of airborne operation. To evaluate either system, request measured force, power demand, duration, surface conditions and failure behavior. None of the collected patent publications is an independent Roadster performance test. No verified Roadster-specific cold-gas-thruster or pressure-vessel patent was established in this search. That is a collection gap, not evidence that no such filing exists. Unpublished applications and differently titled filings can evade a public keyword search. Evidence timeline Date / period Evidence and interpretation 2017 announcement Tesla’s official Semi & Roadster unveiling recording is a primary video lead. The indexed upload date is December 14, 2017; do not substitute it for the November 16 event date. Q4 2017 report Explicit next-generation Roadster announcement and numerical performance claims. This anchors the historical promises in a preserved Tesla document. 2018–2024 The 2017, 2018 and 2019 year-end updates were collected for historical comparison. Attempts to retrieve additional 2020–2024 documents stalled and were stopped; those years are not represented beyond Q4 2024. A mention of the original Roadster in company history is not automatically about the replacement vehicle. This selection is not every quarterly communication. Q4 2024–Q2 2026 Production-status tables remain development-stage. Q2 2026 is the latest completed-quarter update available at collection; Tesla’s investor index schedules Q3 earnings for October 21, after this research date. August 2025–September 2026 Aero/downforce grant, seat application, active-wing application and fan-car grant become public. Filing and publication dates differ substantially; publication timing alone cannot prove when engineering began. October 15–16, 2026 New reveal and revised product-page evidence. Exact trim specifications, reservation amounts, audiovisual transcript and production statements remain awaiting a directly preserved primary capture. Investigation questions This investigation groups the preserved sources under Tesla Investigations. The commentary is editorial research, not a Tesla publication. What changed from 2017 to 2026? Compare seating, range, acceleration, drive layout, mass, roof and advertised use by dated version. Do not combine specifications from different trims or prototypes. Resolve the incomplete live-page capture before publishing a comparison chart. What exactly has been demonstrated? Preserve the full unedited event, identify driver/remote operation, setup, surface, measurement method and any cuts. A promotional demonstration is evidence of the demonstrated event, not by itself a repeatable production-car specification. What does a reservation buy? Compare dated regional agreements, refund terms, priority, deposit handling and changes for existing holders. Keep reported deposits separate from final vehicle prices. Obtain the actual current US agreement before quoting purported new clauses. How mature is manufacturing? Track location, installed capacity, tooling, pilot production, certification and customer deliveries as separate milestones. Do not convert a reveal date or target year into a delivery guarantee. Which inventions are connected to the Roadster? Build a family-level map of inventors, applications, continuations, grants and assignments. Record whether a connection is stated by Tesla, appears in a filing, is inferred from a drawing, or is media speculation. What are the operational limits? Seek documentation of pressure-vessel inspection, refill time, gas capacity, noise, debris effects, skirt wear, braking and fail-safe behavior, energy consumption and repeatability. These are unanswered research questions, not allegations of defects. What is approved for public-road use? Obtain model- and jurisdiction-specific documentation. Do not infer road legality or crash compliance from a patent, reservation page, or stage demonstration. Scope and remaining gaps This initial collection contains 10 Tesla shareholder updates and six USPTO patent publications (379 PDF pages). It is not every Tesla document or a complete patent-family search. No independently verified production specifications or performance tests are claimed. The six patent originals are image-only: full checked searchable transcriptions remain pending. Tesla reports retain their original selectable text, but table extraction can be imperfect. Original PDFs are available through the source pages below. PDF page counts, acquisition dates, source URLs and SHA-256 identifiers are recorded on each source. Direct capture of the current Tesla product/configuration pages, versioned October 2026 reservation terms and full official reveal recording remains incomplete. Current claims and prices should not be treated as verified solely from search snippets. Earlier owner/service manuals for Roadster 1.5, 2 and 2.5 refer to the original generation and were excluded. Patent dates/types were checked against original publication front pages. Full prosecution histories, maintenance-fee status, later assignments and international family counterparts have not been certified. A patent does not prove production installation, independent performance or road approval. Research prepared with AI assistance; the source PDFs remain authoritative. No independent human proofread of a complete transcription is claimed.
