Re: City Attorney for City of Fort Walton Beach, FL
Dear Mayor Anderson and Council Members:
I am writing to express my interest in serving as the City Attorney for the City of Fort
Walton Beach.
I have extensive experience appearing before local governing bodies on
issues including, land use, zoning, private property rights and more. I have also been the
attorney for the Destin Community Land Trust and a member if its board of directors.
Additionally, I have been a member of the Destin Harbor District, CRA. I have also
represented many other deliberative bodies governed by Robert' s Rules of Order and
Government in the Sunshine. I have ample, if not; significant litigation experience and I
have even served as a hearing office on quasi judicial matters.
I have a Doctorate in Jurisprudence ( JD) from Washington University, School of Law,
where I attended on full academic scholarship. I also have earned a Masters of Law
LL.M.)
in Real Estate Development from the University of Miami, School of Law where
I graduated with a magna cum laude grade point average. I have an additional emphasis
in Federal Indian Law which I earned at the American Indian Law Center in
Albuquerque, NM. I am a judge advocate in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, although I
will probably be retiring soon and that obligation should not impact my duties for the
City of Fort Walton Beach.
I am the managing attorney for the Tingle Law Firm, P.A. However, I am no stranger to
practicing in a large law firm environment. Prior to opening my own law firm, I was an
attorney for Greenburg, Traurig, P.A. This firm is the largest law firm in the state and the
fourth largest law firm in the United States with over one thousand five-hundred
attorneys and twenty -eight offices worldwide. I have also worked at Becker and
Poliakoff, P.A. a law firm specializing in government,
real estate,
and community
association law, with over one hundred attorneys and a dozen offices statewide at last
count.
Because of this I am small enough to provide you with the personalized service
you deserve while still be no stranger to sophisticated legal practice. I use CNA for my
professional liability insurance and USAA for my automobile insurance and I will be
happy to provide insurance certificates in the amount set forth upon being selected as a
successful candidate.
I have been nearly a lifelong resident of the area, attending
elementary, middle school and ultimately graduating from Fort Walton Beach High
School in 1983. My wife and I were married at Westwood Baptist Church where we
attend with my parents who are residents of Fort Walton Beach. My office is located in
Destin, but if necessary, I might be interested in acquiring office space across from Fort
Walton Beach High School. I was one of three finalists during your last request for legal
services for the City of Fort Walton Beach, city attorney and I would be excited about an
opportunity to serve. If you wish to discuss my qualifications further please contact me

Sincerely,
D. Craig Tingl , s.
