A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF FORT WALTON BEACH,
FLORIDA, ACCEPTING FUNDING THROUGH THE FEDERAL
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY FOR PERSONAL
PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT; AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO
EXECUTE GRANT DOCUMENTS; AUTHORIZING THE FIRE CHIEF
TO OVERSEE THE PROJECT; AUTHORIZING A BUDGET
AMENDMENT; AND SETTING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF FORT WALTON
BEACH, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
The Department of Homeland Security and Federal Emergency Management Agency through
the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program provides funding to protect the health and safety of the
public and firefighting personnel against fire and fire-related hazards. The City is eligible to
participate in this competitive grant program, and has applied for and been awarded a project total of
$115,200 ($103,680 grant funds and $11,520 City match) for personal protective equipment. The
City Council finds that it is in the best interest of the citizens of Fort Walton Beach to participate in
the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.
Therefore, the City Council hereby authorizes the Mayor to execute grant documents as
needed; the City Manager to execute all necessary documents to complete grant-related purchases; the
Fire Chief to implement, supervise, and manage the initiative pursuant to City purchasing policies and
procedures and Florida law; and a budget amendment to record the grant and a portion of the City
match.
