Although the City of Panama City elected several years ago to advertise
all of their municipal engineering projects, as opposed to selecting a
general engineering consultant, Hatch Mott MacDonald has been
successful in being selected and performing many of the City's utility
projects over the past five years. Since opening our Panama City office
in October of 20001 we have performed studies such as the
Inflow /Infiltration study for the City's Millville sewer service area and
the water /sewer service evaluation of the Lisenby Avenue, Old Forest
Park, Pretty Bayou, and Kings Point service areas. In addition, HMM
has performed services for the evaluation of retrofitting and/ or
reconstructing several of the City's major sewer lift stations and
ultimately prepared construction bid documents and assisted in the
construction of these improvements. Other services have included
assistance with maintenance of the City' s wastewater treatment systems
facilities. A list of successful projects include:
Lift Station 41 Renovations

St. Andrews WWTF Influent Screens
Wilson Avenue

Mary Esther Wastewater Treatment Facility
alary Esther, Florida
The City of Mary Esther Wastewater Treatment Facility was placed into
operation prior to 1950. Over the years, two significant upgrades were
made, with the last major upgrade in 1992. The existing Mary Esther
WWTF is permitted for 1. 1 million gallons per day ( MGD). Due to the
age of the facility, especially the equalization tanks and conventional
activated sludge treatment plant, difficulties have been encountered for
operational staff during high flow conditions. Considering the
occasional high flow conditions and to increase the operational
flexibility and reliability of the WWTF during the high flow conditions,
the City has retained the services of Hatch Mott MacDonald to provide
engineering services to upgrade its WWTF.
The proposed upgrade, once completed, will add approximately 0. 3
MGD biological treatment capacity. The process train for the upgraded
Mary Esther WWTF will include screening, flow equalization, brush
aerator type oxidation ditch, clarifier, chlorine disinfections, aerobic
biosolids digestion, and plastic media drying beds.
