Type : Action, Discussion Recommended Action : Motion to adopt Governor DeSantis' Proclamation recognizing February 2021 Career and Technical Education Month in Florida. Public Content Governor DeSantis has issued an official proclamation recognizing February as CTE Month for the state of Florida! Governor DeSantis, along with Superintendent Chambers, reaffirms Florida’s commitment to Career and Technical Education with this proclamation for CTE Month. Celebrating CTE Month allows the Okaloosa County School District to share the value of CTE and the achievements and accomplishments of CTE programs in our district. Career and Technical Education programs are not just stand-alone courses. Each program is a coherent sequence of instruction that will ultimately lead to an industry-recognized credential, post-secondary opportunities, and careers in fields in which students have an interest. CTE programs prepare students to be college and career-ready by providing core academic skills, employability skills, and technical, job-specific skills. OCSD is deeply committed to supporting CTE programs in our middle school, high school, and post-secondary programs. CTE offers opportunities for ALL students and is for students who want to pursue a college education, enlist in the military or enter directly into the workforce.
