Select a program for which you are applying. If you are interested in applying under both Vehicle Acquisition and Operations and Safety, and /or regional application you will need to submit separate applications. Program Name Operations and Safety 2. Will this grant benefit more than one organization? Yes If you answered Yes to Question 2 above, please explain. The Fort Walton Beach Fire Department participates extensively in automatic aid, so quite frequently one jurisdiction may be initial responders to an emergency incident in another jurisdiction. This situation may present itself if one company is already handling an incident and another occurs in their area, or if a company has to leave their district for any reason. The frequency of the later is what we will see a reduction in by obtaining necessary equipment. Due to the manner in which the county and city properties are split, the engine company at out second station must travel out of their jurisdiction and through others in order to come to the main fire station. This is only done out of necessity for training purposes, special events, or equipment maintenance. Currently, an obsolete and incomplete Self Contained Breathing Apparatus ( SCBA) refilling system is kept in a 24 year old cargo van that is soon to be sold. By not having this system available the amount of time spent out of our district will significantly increase. In turn, the surrounding jurisdictions will be overtaxed with longer response distances and an increased number of emergency incidents. This not only creates a new risk to the citizens in our jurisdiction, but also to the citizens in the jurisdictions from which the other organizations respond. In addition, the updates to our station alerting system that we are seeking funding for will potentially benefit the entire region. The main dispatch center for the region will house equipment that can be utilized by multiple organizations and by already having that in operation others will be able to make an easier transition to the new system, not to mention the cost savings they will enjoy. Also, due to the improved technology of the new station alerting we will notice a reduction in response times which results in more timely assistance to multiple organizations to which we provide aid. 3. Will the item requested benefit other organizations or otherwise be available Yes for use by other organizations? If you answered Yes in the question above, please explain: The cascade system will reduce the amount of times our engine company has to leave its district to refill SCBA bottles at the main station. Other departments handle emergency incidents during those times, so having the equipment will then reduce their call volume. Also, other organizations regularly use a training tower located at the station where the equipment will be installed and this will allow them to refill their SCBA bottles immediately to proceed into additional drills. 7. Will this equipment be used for wildland firefighting purposes? No B. Is your department trained in the proper use of this equipment being Yes requested? 9. Are you requesting funding for training?
