BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
AGENDA REQUEST
DATE: January 21, 2014
TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board
FROM: Sunil Harman
SUBJECT: Northwest Florida Regional Airport Ground Transportation Policy
DEPARTMENT: Airport
BCC DISTRICT: All
STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Staff is proposing adoption of the revised ordinance to replace the
current ground transportation policy at the Northwest Florida Regional Airport.
BACKGROUND: On April 26, 1977 the Board adopted Ordinance 77-11, which established
rules and regulations governing the ground transportation operations at the Northwest Florida
Regional Airport. On June 19, 2007, the Board adopted Ordinance 07-29, Attachment 1 to
Ordinance 77-11, which amended the ground transportation policy. In reviewing the current
ground transportation policy, the Department of Airports found significant changes that need to
be made. Due to the extent of changes being proposed, staff recommend that the Board repeal
the existing Ground Transportation Policy and replace it in its entirety with the attached policy.
At its December 17, 2013 meeting, the BCC tabled the item and directed the Department to meet
with industry representatives and return for a date certain 2nd public hearing scheduled for
January 21, 2014 with final recommended changes to the policy. The meeting with the industry
occurred on January 2, 2014 resulting in the revised policy being presented for adoption by the
Board.
OPTIONS: Approve, Reject or Table.
RECOMMENDATIONS: It is Staff's recommendation that the Board approve this Ordinance
regulating the Ground Transportation Policy at the Northwest Florida Regional Airport.
