Jeff Peters, Recreational /Cultural Services Director, advised that Staff has been meeting with the principals involved in the project to ensure that everyone is on the same page with the vision of the project. Mr. Peters informed that the public has been providing input on what they would like the complex to have including increasing the size of the fitness room; incorporating a locker room; a patio with chairs for the senior center portion of the complex; and the addition of a restroom. Also being discussed is a closed circuit TV where parents can watch children taking dance classes. Mr. Peters advised the feedback has been positive and the biggest question being asked is when it will be completed. Dennis Chavez of DC Architects discussed the renderings and that the biggest change is the design of the roof from a flat roof to a double -lock steel roof to prevent leaking. Mr. Christopher advised the project is under budget and on schedule and there will be a 90% review meeting in February or March. Discussion included the recycled water for irrigation that will be run through the water line from Pump Station 1; the idea to overbuild to provide capacity for the future and the desire by Staff to do it right the first time;' the use of brick, stucco, and metal roofing; and the security system will include closed circuit television and lighting along the track for evening walks. Mr. Peters discussed possible sponsorship and input and that the Chamber of Commerce is assisting in that endeavor. Charlene Greenwald, Jet Drive, stated her thought that the renderings of the exterior design of the building looks institutional and has no character and lacks a dramatic entrance. Mr. Peters stated that the landscaping proposed for the complex will be a plus and he is confident the building will be attractive. Mr. Chavez reminded that the structure is a municipal building and should have a municipal feel to it, and that when completed will be attractive and an asset to the City.
