STATEMENT OF ISSUE: The term of service for a member of the Electrical Competency Board,
Kennith King, has expired and must be renewed.
BACKGROUND: Section 6-221 of the Code of Ordinances (excerpted below) provides for the
appointment of representatives to the Electrical Competency Board which assists the County with
implementing the provisions of the Florida Electrical Code and other related regulations, as well as
considers applications for trade licenses and possible disciplinary actions. Kennith King, State Registered
Master Electrical Contractor has agreed to serve another three (3) year term on the Electrical Competency
Board.
DIVISION 2. OKALOOSA COUNTY ELECTRICAL COMPETENCY BOARD
Sec. 6-221. Composition; appointment of members.
The board of county commissioners shall appoint ten members to the electrical competency board and fix
their terms of office. The board shall consist of ten members, five of whom shall be licensed electrical
contractors, one of whom shall be an alarm contractor, one of whom shall be a specialty contractor, and
three who are consumer representatives.
The county building official shall be an ex officio member of each of these boards, but he or she
shall have no vote.
OPTIONS: The Board may approve or deny the re-appointment. Denial will result in the need
to identify a volunteer to fill the position.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Staff recommends that the Board of County Commissioners approve the
re-appointment of Kennith King to the Electrical Competency Board.
