BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS
AGENDA REQUEST
DATE: March 19, 2013
TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board
FROM: Reagan Huff, Chairman, Construction Committee, Eagle Ram Tennis
SUBJECT: Visitor - Eagle Ram Tennis Center Request for Assistance
The Eagle Ram Tennis Committee has been raising money to build eight tennis courts on Ruckel
Middle School property. The Okaloosa County School Board has approved the project and
allocated land on Ruckel Middle School property for this project.
These tennis courts will be a joint use facility among the school district and the community. In
addition to high school and middle school tennis team practice and matches, these courts will
also be used for summer programs, after school programs and general public tennis exercise.
Public Works Staff Information
The committee is requesting assistance from Public Works staff. They have requested that the
county provide labor and equipment to perform grading, base material placement, and retention
pond construction.
The work will require two to three staff members and will take approximately 5 weeks to
complete. There will be impacts to the scheduling of other project commitments as a result of
this work if approved. The total cost for the County's efforts is estimated at $27,500.
Public Works staff requests the Board's consideration of the request made by the Eagle Ram
Tennis Committee for site work related to the construction of a tennis court facility, taking into
account current commitments and staff workload.
