An appropriation of $1, 875 is included in the FY 2010 -11 Utilities Fund / Customer Service Division budget for the purchase of 3 replacement computers in accordance with the 5 year computer replacement program, attached. Staff has reviewed several different computer manufactures and have determined that the purchase of new computers from Dell, Inc. is in the City's best interest. 1. 2 Due to an oversight, adding the purchase of these three computers to the purchase of the fifty computers that was approved by City Council on January 25, 2011 was missed. 2. DISCUSSION: 2. 1. The appropriation of $1, 875 in the FY 2010 -11 budget will provide for the purchase of three computers at $ 499. 70 each for a total purchase cost of $1, 499. 10. 2. 2. Although the City's Five Year Computer Replacement Program identifies 63 desktop and 9 laptop computers that are due to be replaced, the replacement of 53 will suffice to maintain satisfactory operational levels. 3. FINANCIAL INFORMATION: 3. 1. Funding has been appropriated in the FY 2010 -11 budget.. 3. 2. The computers will be purchased from State contract number 250- 040 -08 -1, expiring on March 28, 2011. 4. RECOMMENDATION: 4. 1. Staff requests authorization to purchase desktop computers from Dell Inc., utilizing pricing available on State Contract, not to exceed $ 1, 499. 10, as appropriated in the FY 2010 -11 budget.
