BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: July 19, 2016 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Jason Autrey SUBJECT: CEFCO College Blvd. Roadway Improvements DEPARTMENT: Public Works BCC DISTRICT: 3 STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Acceptance of roadway improvements/modifications and asphalt driveways on College Boulevard at the intersection with SR 85 to enter into the 18-month warranty period as required before permanent acceptance into the County maintenance system. BACKGROUND: The CEFCO College Blvd. convenience store project, proposed within the limits of the City of Niceville, has driveway entrances via College Blvd., a County maintained road. The developer, Fikes Wholesale, Inc. was required to obtain a driveway connection permit from Okaloosa County. In order to accommodate the proposed driveway connections off College Blvd., modifications to the westbound approach of the intersection were required (i.e. widened to include a westbound left turn lane for the east driveway connection). The driveways and roadway improvements/modifications have been constructed, inspected, and found to be in substantial conformance with the approved plans. OPTIONS: Approve/Disapprove the developer's request. RECOMMENDATIONS: Approve the work performed on College Blvd. to enter into the 18- month warranty period, and accept maintenance bond No. 9171684 issued by Federated Mutual Insurance Company on April 6, 2016 in the amount of twenty-one thousand seven hundred and ninety-three dollars and 10 cents ($21,793.10) as the guarantee for the work performed.
