BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: March 15, 2016 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Tracy Stage SUBJECT: TSA Funding Agreement for Law Enforcement Officer Reimbursement DEPARTMENT: Airport BCC DISTRICT: STATEMENT OF ISSUE: The Department of Airports requests approval by the Board of County Commissioners (Board) to accept Modification P00004 extending the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) Law Enforcement Reimbursement Other Transaction Agreement, HSTS0213HSLR205, at the request of TSA from October 1, 2015 through March 31, 2016. BACKGROUND: The Transportation Security Administration Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) Reimbursement Program provided partial funding for passenger checkpoint screening area monitoring by the Airports' police force. The normal funding cycle is on a fiscal year basis, but due to past funding problems caused by a lack of Federal funding when department appropriations have not been enacted by the government, the TSA has chosen to extend the current fiscal year agreement into FY 16 by adding an additional $42,483.47 to the agreement to cover the extended contract period. On August 18, 2015, the Board approved an application to continue the TSA LEO Reimbursement Program and the approved application will begin when this extension expires.
