Public Content In order to encourage equal representation of all school boards in the FSBA legislative efforts, Article XI, Section 1 of the FSBA Bylaws calls for each district school board to annually designate a board member and an alternate to serve on the FSBA Advocacy (previously called Legislative) Committee. These Advocacy Committee members serve as the key architects of the FSBA Legislative Platform and as essential advocates in our local, state, and federal lobbying efforts. A policy change was approved at the Annual Joint Conference (December 2019) that restructured committees, placing the Advocacy Committee as the overarching, statewide committee. This change also shifted the Legislative Committee to a smaller, more focused subcommittee of the Advocacy Committee, alongside the Federal Relations subcommittee. The Advocacy Committee will begin work in early August and will be appointing its Legislative and Federal subcommittee members by September 1. This roles and responsibilities include: Participation on this committee with statewide representation (one rep from each school district) Interaction with policy makers and stakeholders to promote public education The opportunity to be considered to serve on the Legislative or Federal subcommittees Monthly meetings (and additional meetings for subcommittees) Advocacy and communication leadership Reporting advocacy efforts back to your respective boards Mr. Bryant currently serves as the Board's representative and Dr. Kelley serves as the alternate.
