To Whom It May Concern:
On behalf of the Okaloosa County Board of County Commissioners, I enthusiastically submit this
letter of support for the Okaloosa County School Board’s Youth Career Connect grant proposal to
U.S. Department of Labor.
Okaloosa County is home to many military installations, three airports, and thousands of citizens
working in aviation and related fields. The Board believes the opportunity to actively support this
proposal, aligning work experience opportunities and career awareness activities for the eligible
youth participants will continue to support the interests of our county. We also feel this proposal will
provide Okaloosa County youth the services and opportunity to successfully prepare for post-
secondary education and employability in high-growth industries and occupations that lead to self-
sufficiency.
Approved funding from the U.S. Department of Labor grant will allow the Okaloosa County
CHOICE School, along with community partners to provide high school students with a
comprehensive learning experience by providing students with challenging, relevant learning
opportunities.
The Okaloosa County Commission fully supports the Youth Career Connect grant program elements
to strengthen college-and career-readiness by redesigning the high school experience to focus on
providing students with career opportunities and/or, develop post-secondary goals.
Further, the Board is proud to support the professional working relationship with the Okaloosa
County CHOICE School and community partners.
Sincerely,
Charles K. Windes, Jr.
Chairman
