BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: January 7, 2014 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Kay Godwin SUBJECT: HR Policy Changes - Communications DEPARTMENT: Human Resources BCC DISTRICT: STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Request Board approval of changes to the Communications Policy within the Human Resources Policy Manual. BACKGROUND: As technology continually changes, the policies for cellular and mobile devices have been updated. Further, new policies are introduced addressing ITunes and domain registration. Changes to the cell phone policy provide a streamlined solution for employee reimbursement of personal calls. Standardized guidelines are also proposed for issue and use of cell phones and other mobile devices. The development of these policies and procedures has been a collaborative effort over the past several months between county and finance department representatives, and the proposed policies have been vetted through department directors and the County Administrator. Policy changes are highlighted for quick identification in the attached document. Additions are underlined and deletions are in strikeout format. OPTIONS: Approve/Deny RECOMMENDATIONS: Staff recommends the Board approve the proposed changes to the Communications policy within the Human Resources Policy Manual. RECOMMENDED BY: APPROVED BY: Ernie Padgett, County Administrator
