BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS AGENDA REQUEST DATE: November 17, 2015 TO: Honorable Chairman and Members of the Board FROM: Jeff Littrell SUBJECT: Payments to Large Meter Customers - Water Only Customers DEPARTMENT: Water and Sewer BCC DISTRICT: All STATEMENT OF ISSUE: Staff requests Board of County Commissioners (BCC) approval to amend the refund amount for three accounts that had the readiness-to-serve charges calculated for water and sewer, when sewer is not available. The amended refund amount is $3,871.68. BACKGROUND: On October 6, 2015 staff brought a request for 17 accounts to the BCC to have readiness-to-serve charges adjusted because they had been overcharged based upon meter size. Staff calculated the dollar amounts for the readiness-to-serve charges for both water and sewer. However, two of the meters should have been “water only” (sewer is not available). The original amount requested to refund for the two locations (three accounts, due to past customers) was for $13,768.49. The corrected amount to refund is $3,871.68 (see attached document for a breakdown). All of the other 14 refunds and adjustments have been applied to the customer accounts and the checks are being processed for payment. OPTIONS: Approve or deny. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the BCC approve to amend the refund amount for three accounts that had the readiness-to-serve charges calculated for water and sewer, when sewer is not available.
